Top 5 Poconos Waterfalls

October 3, 2019

Since the turn of the century, the act of “waterfalling” has skyrocketed in popularity, especially among adventurous couples.

And luckily for you and your sweetheart, Pocono Palace Resort and Paradise Stream Resort are just a short drive from dozens of awe-inspiring, picturesque Poconos waterfalls. While you likely already know all about Bushkill Falls, “the Niagara of Pennsylvania,” there are many more hidden gems in the Pocono Mountains amidst dense forestry, thriving wildlife, and natural serenity.

The 5 Prettiest Poconos Waterfalls

Yes, Cove Haven Entertainment Resorts provides honeymooners, spouses, and lovebirds with seemingly neverending (and all-inclusive) on-site amenities, fine dining, and nightly live entertainment. But we cannot blame you if a midday escape to one of the prettiest Poconos waterfalls doesn’t sound alluring, invigorating, and mildly seductive. These five Pocono Mountain adventures should be combined with some light hiking, a bit of exploration, and a tasty afternoon picnic.

1. Bushkill Falls

It should come as no surprise that we’re kicking off this list of Poconos waterfalls with the always enchanting Bushkill Falls. While many of the best waterfalls in PA are moderately “off the beaten path,” Bushkill is one of the top attractions in the state. Despite the crowds, there’s nothing more magical than strolling alongside this tranquil collection of eight falls. The gorge itself is a natural, moss-covered marvel, while the two-mile Red Trail is among the best hikes in the Poconos.

2. Dingmans Falls

Dingmans Creek is home to a handful of the most-frequented Poconos waterfalls, most notably Dingmans Falls. Particularly adventurous couples often walk the creek to observe each waterfall from up-close. After a dramatic drop, the latter half of Dingmans Falls looks like a slippery natural waterslide. During summer’s golden peak, thrillseekers climb the falls and swim inside the teal pool.

3. Raymondskill Falls

While the trek to these classic Poconos waterfalls is just 0.3 miles, we recommend hopping on the lengthier loop. The 2.3-mile Raymondskill Falls Loop provides a quintessential Poconos hiking experience: serene waterfalls, dramatic valley overlooks, and lush forestry. Whether you plan to visit during spring’s thaw, summer’s haze, or autumn’s peak, Raymondskill Creek is bound to provide you and your flame with long-lasting memories.

4. Silverthread Falls

Just downstream from Dingmans Falls lies yet another one of our favorite Poconos waterfalls: Silverthread Falls. This skinny, often overlooked beauty features an 80-foot drop, making it one of the tallest Delaware Water Gap waterfalls. Aptly-named Silverthread is reminiscent of those thin yet enthralling waterfalls often captured by natural photographers who trek into Hawaii’s dense, uninhabited wilderness.

5. Shohola Falls

Shohola Falls is perhaps the best-kept secret on the Poconos waterfalls map. If you and your fellow adventurer relish a good thrill, we recommend carefully walking on one of Shohola Falls’ many layers. As long as the current isn’t gushing, you can walk right into the heart of Shohola Falls—as long as you’re not afraid to get a little wet, of course.
