The 3 Best Wineries in the Poconos

In fact, the Poconos Mountains see just as much foot traffic and interest as those faraway destinations because of our region’s proximity to the New York Metropolitan Area’s 20 million residents. There are dozens of award-winning wineries in the Poconos, many of which offer vineyard tours, special events, and inexpensive wine flights.

The Best Wineries in the Poconos near Cove Haven

Many couples plan a self-guided, mid-day trip along the “Pocono wine trail” during their stay here at Cove Pocono Resorts. With so many wineries in the Poconos, finding the best vineyards in the area can be challenging. Luckily for you and your sweetheart, we’ve pieced together the three premier wineries in PA based on customer feedback and personal experience. The breathtaking Pocono wine trail is perhaps the closest thing that compares to a trip to Southern Europe.

Mountain View Vineyard – Stroudsburg

Narrowing this list down to three was taxing, but Mountain View Vineyard was always a no-brainer. It’s easy to fall in love with their countryside landscape, mountain-view tasting room, and personalized service. This 100-acre farm is entirely sustainable—and they don’t just make wine! After savoring a semi-dry Chambourcin and Cayuga blend, we recommend taste-testing their distilled spirits and craft beer. Don’t forget to join one of their Pocono wine tours, which begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Must-try: Bliss, Wild Mountain Rose, and Mountain Goat Red.

Eagles Rest Cellars – Stroudsburg

Eagles Rest Cellars remains one of the most underrated wineries in the Poconos, but that shouldn’t stop you from taking a trip to this 900-vine, 4,500-Christmas tree farm. They provide vineyard tours on the weekends, but the tasting room is open four days a week. Even if a vineyard tour isn’t available, we still highly recommend taking a stroll on their farm—the misty Pocono Mountains tower over the land. For just $5 per person, you can enjoy a flight of five wines. You’ll also receive a glass to take home. The Pocono wine tours, meanwhile, cost just $8. Must-try: Taxi, Cruise, and Attitude.

Sorrenti Cherry Valley Vineyard – Saylorsburg

Sorrenti Cherry Valley Vineyard is one of the oldest wineries in the Poconos as it opened for business back in 1981. Until the early 1980s, many believed that growing grapes in this climate was impossible. But Dominic Sorrenti proved them wrong as his lifelong dream of owning a vineyard became a reality. You won’t find many vineyards in PA with a more gripping backstory. Sorrenti hosts many events, such as grape stomps, paint ‘n sips, and the annual Sangria Festival. Must-try: Blackberry Noir, Raspberry Spumante, and Pinot Grigio.

The 3 Best Pocono Golf Courses

As far as we’re concerned, there’s no better golf destination in the world than the Pocono Mountains during autumn’s peak. The sprawling, rolling mountains in this awe-inspiring region transform into a vivid, eye-popping mixture of blazing amber, rich marigold, deep crimson, and bright green. As you might expect, the fall foliage allures hundreds of thousands of golfers into the Pocono Mountains each year. One of our most popular off-campus, couples-friendly activities here at Cove Pocono Resorts is 18 holes of golf. And luckily for you and your sweetheart, our world-famous Jacuzzi suites are just a short distance from the three best Pocono golf courses.

The Best Pocono Golf Courses near Cove Haven

Browsing through the top-rated Pocono golf courses can be a bit taxing as there are so many options. So, we decided to rank the three best golf clubs based on personal experience and customer feedback. Each of these Pocono Mountain golf courses is within 30 minutes of our resorts. It’s worth noting that Cove Haven Resort and Pocono Palace Resort both have a driving range, so feel free to hit some balls before your departure.

Paupack Hills Golf Course & Country Club – Greentown

All three of these Pocono golf courses were selected for a reason, most notably the surrounding beauty. You won’t find more vibrant colors in the region. Paupack Hills Golf Course rests just on the other side of Lake Wallenpaupack from Cove Haven Resort—a scenic, relaxing 16-mile drive. The course itself features skinny, challenging fairways, pristine bunkers, soft greens, and jaw-dropping tee shots. This Tom Fazio masterpiece hugs Lake Tanglwood amidst deep forestry, creating a genuinely peaceful ambiance that occasionally allures wildlife.

Buck Hill Golf Club – Buck Hill Falls

Buck Hill Golf Club is just six miles north of Paradise Stream Resort, which is an added perk for our visiting golf enthusiasts. Take one peek at their website, and we guarantee that you’ll pick up the phone to make a tee time. Each hole is entirely enclosed by dense, colorful forestry. There are 27 well-designed holes at this 112-year-old staple that are split into three nine-hole Pocono golf courses: Red, White, and Blue. The original 1907 Red Course is the hilliest, while golfers have fallen in love with the Blue Course’s elevated tee shots.

Great Bear Golf Club – East Stroudsburg

We may have saved the best for last. Great Bear Golf Club, located just 1.9 miles from Pocono Palace Resort, is a beginner-friendly, Jack Nicklaus-designed marvel. It’s proximity to the Delaware Water Gap helps provide natural beauty that you won’t find at many other Pocono golf courses. Great Bear sees less foot traffic than the previous two entries, which is certainly a plus for those looking for a swift round with their sweetheart. It’s also one of the newest courses in the area as its doors opened in 1997.

Couples Getaway in PA

As we stated previously, very few activities can top 18 holes of Poconos golf. However, Cove Pocono Resorts’ nightly live entertainment, free on-site amenities, all-inclusive fine dining, and seductive Champagne Tower Whirlpools will likely lure you both away from the tee box. Poconos Kayaking at Cove Haven

With summer officially in the rearview mirror, millions of couples turn their attention to the most romantic season of the year: autumn. Every fall, the Pocono Mountains transform into a vibrant meld of amber, marigold, kelly green, and crimson. This picturesque land allures couples from New York City, Philadelphia, and all across the East Coast. And one of the most romantic mid-fall activities in our region is kayaking. Nothing tops an hour or two of serene Poconos kayaking in the crisp, fresh mountain air while surrounded by vivid, eye-popping fall foliage. When you choose a passionate, uninhibited stay at Cove Pocono Resorts, you’ll always be steps from quintessential Pocono adventures such as kayaking, fishing, and bicycling.

Autumn Poconos Kayaking

Couples often search for “kayaking near me” when visiting the Pocono Mountains, but you’ll be happy to hear that both Cove Haven Resort and Pocono Palace Resort offer exclusive, complimentary access to a wide variety of kayaks. We provide free access to nearly a dozen adventure sports, but there’s something magical about a paddling excursion when the colors are at their peak.

Cove Haven Resort – Lake Wallenpaupack

Poconos kayaking, especially during autumn’s peak, is equally relaxing, invigorating, and playful. And luckily for you and your sweetheart, Lake Wallenpaupack provides some of the best kayaking in the Poconos. Lake Wallenpaupack spans 5,700 acres with approximately 52 miles of shoreline. Paddlers are only allowed within the cove of the lake for the safety of our guests, but, thankfully, this stretch of the lake is jaw-droppingly beautiful in autumn.

Pocono Palace Resort – Echo Lake

Whereas Lake Wallenpaupack is one of the most popular Poconos kayaking destinations, Pocono Palace Resort’s private Echo Lake is a secluded hidden gem. Most couples only spend an hour or so paddling along the outer banks of this still body of water, which is enclosed by towering forestry. During the fall season, these diverse trees provide a heartwarming glow and a golden sheen on Echo Lake.

5 (More) Romantic Things to Do in the Poconos This Fall

For those who’re staying at Paradise Stream Resort, you’ll have exclusive access to rowboats and pedal boats (but no kayaks). And the colors on the trees around the Lakeside Villas are quite lovely to enjoy during a quiet stroll around Lake Eden. While nothing tops an hour or two of Poconos kayaking during mid-October, we urge couples to embark on a wilderness stroll, throw a line into the lake for a monster northern pike, and play a paintball match against other couples. To ensure that your mid-fall getaway is nothing short of flawless, we’ve compiled five more of our favorite on-site autumn activities:

  • Bicycling
  • Croquet
  • Fishing
  • Golf driving range
