The 3 Best Pocono Golf Courses

September 27, 2019

As far as we’re concerned, there’s no better golf destination in the world than the Pocono Mountains during autumn’s peak.

As far as we’re concerned, there’s no better golf destination in the world than the Pocono Mountains during autumn’s peak. The sprawling, rolling mountains in this awe-inspiring region transform into a vivid, eye-popping mixture of blazing amber, rich marigold, deep crimson, and bright green. As you might expect, the fall foliage allures hundreds of thousands of golfers into the Pocono Mountains each year. One of our most popular off-campus, couples-friendly activities here at Cove Pocono Resorts is 18 holes of golf. And luckily for you and your sweetheart, our world-famous Jacuzzi suites are just a short distance from the three best Pocono golf courses.

The Best Pocono Golf Courses near Cove Haven

Browsing through the top-rated Pocono golf courses can be a bit taxing as there are so many options. So, we decided to rank the three best golf clubs based on personal experience and customer feedback. Each of these Pocono Mountain golf courses is within 30 minutes of our resorts. It’s worth noting that Cove Haven Resort and Pocono Palace Resort both have a driving range, so feel free to hit some balls before your departure.

Paupack Hills Golf Course & Country Club – Greentown

All three of these Pocono golf courses were selected for a reason, most notably the surrounding beauty. You won’t find more vibrant colors in the region. Paupack Hills Golf Course rests just on the other side of Lake Wallenpaupack from Cove Haven Resort—a scenic, relaxing 16-mile drive. The course itself features skinny, challenging fairways, pristine bunkers, soft greens, and jaw-dropping tee shots. This Tom Fazio masterpiece hugs Lake Tanglwood amidst deep forestry, creating a genuinely peaceful ambiance that occasionally allures wildlife.

Buck Hill Golf Club – Buck Hill Falls

Buck Hill Golf Club is just six miles north of Paradise Stream Resort, which is an added perk for our visiting golf enthusiasts. Take one peek at their website, and we guarantee that you’ll pick up the phone to make a tee time. Each hole is entirely enclosed by dense, colorful forestry. There are 27 well-designed holes at this 112-year-old staple that are split into three nine-hole Pocono golf courses: Red, White, and Blue. The original 1907 Red Course is the hilliest, while golfers have fallen in love with the Blue Course’s elevated tee shots.

Great Bear Golf Club – East Stroudsburg

We may have saved the best for last. Great Bear Golf Club, located just 1.9 miles from Pocono Palace Resort, is a beginner-friendly, Jack Nicklaus-designed marvel. It’s proximity to the Delaware Water Gap helps provide natural beauty that you won’t find at many other Pocono golf courses. Great Bear sees less foot traffic than the previous two entries, which is certainly a plus for those looking for a swift round with their sweetheart. It’s also one of the newest courses in the area as its doors opened in 1997.

Couples Getaway in PA

As we stated previously, very few activities can top 18 holes of Poconos golf. However, Cove Pocono Resorts’ nightly live entertainment, free on-site amenities, all-inclusive fine dining, and seductive Champagne Tower Whirlpools will likely lure you both away from the tee box.
