World-famous Cove Haven Entertainment Resorts is known for its all-inclusive packages, all of which include two gourmet meals daily, countless on-site activities, live entertainment, and tantalizing overnight accommodations. So, what’s not included? Mainly lunch, adult beverages, spa treatments, and off-site activities. Because the breakfast buffets and gourmet dinners are so delightfully hearty, many couples merely snack around lunchtime. However, if you plan to utilize the Key Around Club or hop off-site for a light lunch, it’s important to have a few restaurants in mind beforehand. Thus, we’ve compiled three of our favorite local eateries, one each in (or near) Lakeville, Mount Pocono, and East Stroudsburg.
Lake Ariel, PA: Lori’s Kitchen Corner
Who doesn’t love munching on classic breakfast eats during the lunch hour in a quaint Mom and Pop diner? Lake Ariel’s unassuming, undeniably welcoming Lori’s Kitchen Corner remains the best spot for a light lunch near Cove Haven Resort, especially if you have a penchant for tasty breakfast grub, such as homemade omelets, large stacks of pancakes, and hearty skillets. However, Lori’s soups, wraps, salads, hoagies, and burgers also make idyllic lunch fare. The flavor combinations and oversized portion sizes are reminiscent of Grandma’s home-cooking.
Mount Pocono, PA: Fork Street Bistro & Bakery
Approximately three miles down the road from Paradise Stream Resort lies a modest yet surprisingly sublime culinary scene in downtown Mount Pocono. Despite boasting less than 3,200 residents, Mount Pocono remains a hot spot for breakfast and lunch fanatics. We typically steer couples to Fork Street Bistro, a modest, spacious eatery that serves everything from artisanal baked goods to gourmet burgers and Ghirardelli-infused mocha lattes. Whether you need a cup of joe or a stuffed-to-the-brim catfish po’ boy, Fork Street will far exceed expectations.
East Stroudsburg, PA: Sue’s Thai Cuisine & Noodle Bar
Sue’s “Lunch Special” on U.S Route 209 is a must for those exploring the Delaware Water Gap’s picturesque terrain. For less than $10 per plate, hungry patrons can gleefully dine on classic Thai dishes, such as basil fried rice, pad se eew, yellow curry, and drunken noodle—perfectly matched with your desired spice level. Incredibly, each lunch entree comes with a choice of soup, salad, or house-made vegetable spring rolls. It will be hard to leave room for dinner at Pocono Palace Resort, but, thankfully, Sue’s portion sizes aren’t gut-busting.
